Make Up is Art for NYX and the 2018 event takes the opportunity to explore art in all its forms, from the finest talent of the UK and Ireland.
Oxygen were asked to propose ideas for a creative and colourful event. The event should create an interactive exhibition, where the Top 5 artists will curate their very own installation based on their entries thus far, their personalities and influences within the industry. Guests should feel truly immersed in the artistry, products used and experience the stories that inspired the finalists.
Oxygen were asked to take inspiration from exhibitions such as Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the V&A, where the exhibition aims to unravel the process and inspirations behind his famous collections by exploring key looks developed by McQueen’s most trusted make-up artists. Furthermore, the exhibition needs to incorporate interesting, instagrammable-worthy walls.
The 2018 event should reflect the brand – sassy, edgy and fun!
The essential elements of the event include:
Full AV for an Awards style production (lectern, mic’s, lighting & sound)
Gallery style exhibition/installation
WOW factor items
Oxygen worked closely with YES to design a stunning stage set that would both fit the brand, sassy and fun whilst acting as the draw for the event. We designed a white double stage set with sweeping curved set panels. A glass gobo projected into the centre of the set the elaborate Face Wards logo. The set was lit in pink and moving lights were used to project further patterns over the set to add texture.
Napoleon Ice Chairs were set up theatre style and looked absolutely stunning against the pink stage set.
We installed our large drape that has been produced to fit Lindley Hall and creates a separate reception and plenary space. This was lit using battery uplighters which were fully controlled and were pink and blue during the reception and then flashed during the after show party.
A huge amount of time was spent liaising with the client to design the Award Winners Booth that were backed up with visuals. The booth was designed as a central structure within the middle of the reception space, incorporating NYX branding on either ends that could be used as media walls, on one side
The instagrammable walls included:
· Melrose Wings
· Animal Kingdom Jungle Glam
· Frame Wall
· Glitter Wall
In between the instagram walls were the curved award winners booths, which included shelving to display the products the finalists used in their “looks”, a screen to show their show reel and photo frames.
The lighting was key to bring this event together and to create the drama that befitted both the booth and the awards show. Lots of wireless uplighters were used alongside the venues moving lights and the addition of moving lights used within the Award Show in predominantly pink colours to fit the brand.
