As Environmental and Sustainability consultants to Brighton & Hove City Council; working with the Events Department and the Sustainability Team in the Chief Executive’s Policy Unit, Oxygen are undertaking the assessment of all outdoor events held within Brighton and Hove. This project will culminate in a set of guidelines that will lower the environmental impact and improve the sustainability of these events. It has been proposed to the council that we assess two events in 2008 – namely Pride (250,000 people) and a motoring event on the seafront.

The key areas for assessment are not only ecological, but sustainability through local, organic or ethical resources that assist local social and economic factors.
